We're always looking for ways to give our customers Peace Of Mind. being able to see better at night when driving is just another way to do it.

With plastic headlamps costing in the hundred dollar range, and up. People are putting up with some extremely poor lighting problems. The state inspection program doesn't deal with this issue very well. Headlamp aiming, or focus is not part of the state inspection program. It does not matter if you need to be seen, or if someone else needs to see you. The safety of lots of people are at risk. After performing a headlamp restoration on customer vehicles we often have them call back to tell us they had no idea their headlamps had gotten so bad.

That's easy to explain. The change takes place over such a long time period, the change just isn't noticed. These plastic headlamps expand, and contract with temperature changes. They also have small little pores that get embedded with small particles over time.

Most plastics have deterioration that occurs when exposed to our types of weather conditions. The haze is what deflects light causing the reducing of lighting. It also changes the focus of the light beam drastically.

To restore the headlamps we use a system that removes a thin layer of plastic material, then polishes the surface using progressively finer grit abrasives, the finally polishing the lenses with special componds.

This is very similar to how eye glasses are made then shaped out of plastic material. Having the extra distance in your field of vision aids in night driving conditions, or poor weather. The reduced eye strain from trying to drive without good headlamps makes for a more pleasant driving experience. This service can be done at our Member Shops.
